I have always loved this place and felt drawn to it. Karl Marx, Vladimir Lenin, George Orwell, William Morris and many others spoke here. Speaker's Corner at Hyde Park. Queen Victoria is said to have come here to hear the speakers. It represents to me the British tradition of free speech. But not just for the rich and powerful. Anyone can show up here and give a speech. Lefties, right-wingers,  conservatives, wierdos, geniuses, fools and hell-raisers can stand on a stool and question authority without fear of censure. But the speech had better be good or the speaker is likely to be heckled mercilessly by the regulars- who don't suffer fools in silence
